Hey everybody. I am writing this while sitting in a 100% solar-powered house on the national mall. Right ahead of me is team Montreal working away through the night. To my left is NYIT's house, and farther to the left, the Washington Monument. To the right is MIT, and farther to the right, Congress. This solar decathlon is a huge event. BP solar bought out damn near every billboard in the D.C. subway system to advertise. Thousands of people have already filed past to look at the houses, and the competition isn't even open yet. Our house is way ahead of most of the teams. Our panels are up, our air conditioning is working, we have cold soda in the fridge, and we are relaxing and and enjoying life a bit. However, our team also seems to have the worst carpenter shortage at this point (a bunch went home on Sunday) so it looks like i'm staying here in D.C. for a while longer to put on some finishing touches (like the back stairs). This is pretty damn fun. I could get used to this.
