The US thinks that they may have killed Saddam and his sons when they were bombing the hell out of Baghdad earlier. Whoop. If it's true, the coalition forces may be tasting "total victory" soon enough. There has been talk about a post war Iraq. Bush and Blair are supposed to meet in Northern Ireland to talk about the role of the U.N among other things. Bush wants only humanitarian involvement, but Blair wants the UN to be involved more in the tranistion.
I am ambivelent on the one hand, the UN has not been supportive of the US and could hurt the effort more. On on the other hand, the United States war on Iraq added to the unimportance (is that a word?) of the UN, and this may be our chance to rectify it. Plus, if the UN isn't given any involvment, a lot of people are going to be pissed off. All I know is that implementing a capitalistic democracy is going to be tough in a country that is used to a socialist dictatorship. It'll probably be similar to Russia, Afghanistan, or Serbia neither smooth, nor stable. What do you guys (and gals) think? How should Iraq be governed?

peace out, yo

Amy, i like your last reason the best of all of them. i wish more people thought that way. i wish more people thought it was important to be the fourth branch of the government. and although i wish we'd never sent our troops abroad, now i hope we can just get this over with quickly and without screwing things up too much. just as long as that doesn't encourage us to try it again somewhere else...
