oh man, catching up on two weeks of bloggers is fun :)
Christina, you make me wish i'd gone to Italy when i was older. i feel like i didn't see all the things i could have when i was 18... or maybe i just want to go back.
Drew, give me a damn address! And let us know how the first week of law school goes, if you don't mind sacrificing 15 minutes out of your 3 hours of sleep!
Keith, um... please don't kill me, Senor Barista...
Lindsay, much love and tell us about the program. Think they have openings for next year?
Where's Sam? I miss Sam.
And Jordan?
Ben, i love reading your nice long posts. i, too, am reading tons. History is a lot of it, but i'm also reading Kim (to revisit India), The Mosquito Coast (which Pete & i started together), and The Pearl (read it once, but i'm giving it another chance). I just pick a different one depending on my mood. It's working well :)
Adam & Rachel, i'm mad jealous of your musical excursions. I miss live music. I'm practicing violin and it's nice, but you all know i can't really play, anyway.
Pete... what do you think about this Chris Storey thing? Can he be trusted? I think i, too, would like to know who the two extremists would be. Seems like Chris himself should be one, because, well, i can't see him as a very moderate moderator. Then again, it would be great to leave a legacy in the show :)

For anyone who doesn't know, i'm at the farm with Lorri, my 18-yo sister. We're doing pretty well. I'm learning to let her do her own thing & not try to be the bossy older sister (which, admittedly, is a hard role to break out of) and not to provoke her early in the morning. She is just... learning like crazy. Just like i thought, it's doing her a world of good to get out of the house, away from mom, and to meet new people. She's loving the independence :)
I thought i was working Greenmarket every Saturday this month, but at the last minute Keith decided they probably didn't need me, so today is Lorri & my errands day. I made more zucchini bread this morning, listened to the beginning of Car Talk, and now I plan to spend as much time online as possible, reading up on how I can occupy myself after i come home around Thanksgiving. I want to do Americorps, I want to work with teenagers somehow, to prepare for teaching someday. Most of the good youth programs want me to start in the fall, though, so i need something in the meantime. After we leave the library, stops to make include: natural food store, bakery, bank, used store, and of course the grocery store. Busy Saturday, and it's kinda nice to have it off!
We FINALLY have cool weather at the farm-- cool weather and all kinds of rain! I wanted to do laundry today, but the clothes won't dry, so... hopefully tomorrow. I have quite a tan despite daily applications of sunblock. I wear a hat on sunny days and a bandana on cloudy ones to keep my growing hair out of my face. Work is hot and sweaty, but the weeks have been going by at breakneck speed, and the weekend time is slower by comparison. (This might be because of my previous Saturday markets with the Mondays off, so we'll see if it's true this week as well.)
Lorri and I are planning to go to the beach next weekend, because we'll both be working Saturday market and so we'll have Sunday & Monday off & hopefully we can miss some of the usual weekened crowds. We haven't decided where to go yet, but it looks like it may be Rhode Island. I'll let you know how that goes. Lorri has never seen the ocean, so she's pretty excited :)
I'm going to write something along the lines of an India email to tell about the Greenmarket specifically. I'm not sure I can describe it well enough right now. Lorri's done with her online business, so i'll wrap this up. Our address on the farm is 2630 County Route 1 // Prt Jervis, New York 12771. The only other thing i'm doing in the evenings besides reading & patching my jeans is writing to people, so give me something to reply to!
much love to all... Emily.
