It has been a crazy summer on my end. I have been the crazy one though, cuz you can't really blame crazy on a season. The work I'm doing at this cleaning & restoration company is real blue-collar work, hard labor that makes me feel like a real person. Thursday I worked a 20-HOUR shift packing out an apartment after a fire, and I enjoyed every minute. Before I throw my college education to the wind though, I'd like to journey to new lands and save the world or something. I don't even like myself right now, so we'll see how that goes. But yeah, the last couple months have been a real gut check, and the horizon is definitely clearer now.
Still headed to Cape Cod for AmeriCorps at the end of August. I was talking to Jon Betts about this the other day, and he was like 'what does the AmeriCorps do on CAPE COD? Sounds kinda cush!' He has a point, but I'm interested in learning about the marshes of the east coast, never been out that way. We'll be doing a lot of monitoring and educational outreach. I'm hoping it's a stepping stone to a more stable rock on the river of life and whatnot. Should be sweet as well living in a house with 14 other people. Turns out one of my cousins has a summer place on the Cape, and while I haven't seen him in four years, he's willing to entrust me with a key. Ha!
Peace out!
